Hey, I'm Ash — I'm the person behind Actually Remote 👋

Not too long ago, I was stuck in a job that looked fine on paper but felt pretty soul-sapping in reality. Office politics, pointless meetings, rigid 9 to 5, feeling like a small cog in a big machine… the usual corporate-y stuff. It wasn't what I had envisioned for my career.

Then COVID hit, everything changed — including how we worked. Like a lot of people, I found myself working from home for the first time, and it made me realise how much better it suited me. I was able to focus for longer periods of time. I was healthier and happier. Life felt more balanced. So much so that I decided I didn't want to go back to the office environment. And not just that, I wanted to work for a remote-first company that actually knew how to do remote work well.

So I started looking for fully remote roles and companies that fit my values. I reached out directly to a couple companies that didn't even have open jobs at the time, but I really admired how they worked. And to my surprise, they sboth got back to me. One of them eventually became my full-time job.

Now I have complete flexibility over my time. I've been able to spend meaningful time with my wife and son, be there as he grows up, and still do work I genuinely care about alongside incredibly talented people. I've never looked back. It's completely changed my life, and I want to help others find the same.

That's why I created Actually Remote.

Curated remote jobs specifically for UK-based job seekers, and every single posting that goes live is vetted. If it requires office time, it's not going on our site. Simple as that. I'm building this for people who want more freedom, more flexibility, and actual remote work. No jobs that turn out to be US-only, no "must be in London 2 days a week" job description surprises. Just actual remote jobs that are available to people in the UK.
